Lock-in Mode

A Pomodoro timer that builds your study streak

Lock-in Mode is a 25/5 Pomodoro timer built into StudyWithAce. It is not a separate tab you forget about — it keeps running while you read notes, take a quiz or review flashcards, and every completed session counts towards a streak you can see.

The 25/5 cycle

  • 25 minutes of focus, then a 5-minute break.
  • Pause and resume when something interrupts you.
  • Two completed cycles count as one streak.
  • The timer keeps accurate time even if you switch pages or the tab goes to the background.

Because the timer follows real elapsed time rather than a counter that stalls when the tab sleeps, a session you start and leave in the background finishes when it should.

A timer that follows you around the app

Once a session is running, a small timer bubble sits at the side of the screen wherever you go in StudyWithAce. You can generate notes, work through a quiz or review a deck without losing the session, and without the bubble covering what you are reading.

Streaks and history

Completed streaks are recorded with their start and end dates and the number of cycles they contained, and your week is shown day by day so a gap is obvious. Notifications let you know when a streak completes, pauses or breaks, and you can choose which of those you want to hear about in notification settings.

After the session

When a session ends, StudyWithAce asks a short cognitive-load check-in about how heavy that stretch of work felt. Pairing focused sessions with the daily review plan means you always know what to spend the 25 minutes on, instead of staring at a folder of slides.
